- Lea Bias Dress by Soften Studio
The Lea is a loose-fitting, pull-on dress cut on the bias, giving it a soft drape that moves beautifully over the body. It is an elegant and versatile shape that can be worn on its own or layered throughout the seasons.
Across the session, you will learn how to take your measurements, choose the right pattern size, correctly lay out and cut fabric on the bias, transfer your pattern markings and construct the dress from beginning to end. We will also cover sewing bust darts, finishing the neckline, creating a neat hem and handling bias-cut fabric without stretching it out of shape.
You will have the opportunity to customise the pattern to suit your own style. Choose your preferred neckline shape and depth, adjust the dress length, or add details such as sleeves and pockets. We will guide you through making these changes to the pattern before cutting your fabric, so your finished dress feels completely your own.
By the end of the course, you will leave with a finished Lea Bias Dress and a better understanding of how to alter a pattern and confidently cut and sew garments on the bias.
