Workshops

Do I need any sewing experience?

Not at all. Our workshops are built to teach you.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself. Materials, fabric, and equipment are all included in the price. Bring a notebook if you like to take notes, a water bottle and some slippers if you want to get comfy.

Can I bring my own sewing machine?

Contact hello@gatherstudio.co.nz as this is done on a case by case basis.

How many people are in a class?

Four at most. Small groups mean you get plenty of time to ask questions and chat.

Are your workshops size inclusive?

Yes. We work with patterns across a full size range and can help you grade between sizes if you need it. The studio is a size-inclusive space.

Are workshops suitable for children?

During the school holidays, we’ll run some workshops specifically designed for children. Unless a workshop is clearly labelled as child-friendly, our regular workshops are primarily designed for adults.

We’d love to expand our children’s programme in the future, but for now, please check the individual workshop description before booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

As our workshops are small and spaces are limited, we ask that you contact us as soon as possible if your plans change.

You can cancel up to 72 hours before your workshop for a full refund. If you need to cancel within 72 hours, we’ll issue you a studio credit to use towards a future workshop. Full details are in our Cancellation Policy.

What happens if I'm late to a workshop?

We understand that things happen. If you know you’re going to be late, please contact us as soon as possible so we can work out the best way forward.

Depending on how late you arrive and what the class is covering, you may need to catch up independently.

Do you do private events?

Yes! get in touch at Hello@gatherstudio.co.nz to plan your event. From coperate events, birthday parties and more!

Three types: a domestic sewing machine (Janome DC2150) an overlocker (Huskylock), and a Juki industrial machine.
